Cameron Norrie beats Casper Rudd Australian Open 2024

Cameron Norrie won the biggest major victory of his career on Saturday against Casper Rudd, reaching the Australian Open fourth round for the first time with an impressive 6-4, 6-7 (7-9), 6-4, 6-3 victory. After Wimbledon, Norrie’s form was in freefall. He lost 13 of 17 matches from then on.

Norrie said, “Honestly it is so special, “I had to play really brave and almost won that second set. “Norrie said, there were all sorts of nicknames being shouted out there, ‘Come on Nozzdog’ and then ‘Nozz’ and all things like that. It was good stuff and I think everyone was enjoying themselves. I definitely could tell you guys had a few drinks this Saturday afternoon! It was really good, a good atmosphere.

Casper Rudd admitted after the match that Norrie had taken him by surprise, saying: “He changed a few things since the three previous matches that we played, and he played better today.

On Monday Norrie will play in the fourth round against either Alex Michelsen or Alexander Zverev. He may have bad time last year, but Cam is back to his best and there’s real hope he can go even better into this tournament.
